TRIVIA NIGHT

Assembly Performance

In Prep we have been studying the life cycles of the mini-beasts of our back yards. Therefore when it came to our turn to do an item for assembly we chose to sing songs and recite poems all about mini-beasts.

Special thanks to Mrs Salathiel for coming in from her holiday to play the piano and help us getting this item together.

Recalling Our Emerald Bank Trip.

Here we are displaying some of our fantastic writing skills. Listen to us reading our writing about Emerald Bank.

Maths in the Sandpit

We have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the warmer and drier weather to get stuck into the sandpit to experiment with capacity. We had a real ball learning to estimate and measure how many lots of sand we would have to pour from one container into the next.

Katie and Bekky looked on as we got very involved with our measuring and counting.
Sue, Miss Coats and Mrs Krake, (when she wasn't snapping away at us), all had to keep checking that we filled our containers properly, - right up to the top and smoothed down. Some of us kept getting a bit excited and only half filled our containers which gave us some very odd results!

Emeral Bank Heritage Farm

Come and experience our fantastic day at Emerald Bank Heritage Farm in Shepparton. It was a hot and steamy day, but the cloud cover and slight breeze made sure that we didn't noticed it too much.

Frank took us on a hay ride with the tractor and trailer. We saw kangaroos and an old farm house. The grass was very long and green, and the mozzies were hungry!

Here is Jeremiah holding some fluffy seeds that were floating down from the trees. There were so many seeds on the ground that it looked like it was covered in soft fur from the alpacas.

Here we are looking at the most enormous bull that we have ever seen!

These goats were moulting and Ashton was quite fascinated with their wool that he found blowing into the path.

Connor learned the hard way not to pat a piglet on the snout. Luckily it didn't do too much damage, and Connor won't do that again, for a while at least!

We had fun looking around, and of course we found our way to the toilets very quickly.

Only a couple of us have ever been on a real horse before, so having a chance to ride Thomas was such a thrill to us all. Thanks to Diane and Thomas for making a great day just perfect with this special ending to our day.

We got the best laughs of the day when Miss Coats and Mrs Rizzo had their turns on the Merry-go-round.

Tom is quite a fan of model railways and he has told us a lot about them. It was so exciting to be able to finally have a ride on a model train to see what Tom was always so enthusiastic about. Now we know, because we all had a such fun, especially when we went through the tunnel!

Now, come and have a listen to some of the things that we had to say about our day at Emerald Bank once we got back to school.

Thanks to Diane and Frank of Emerald Bank for making our trip such a great success. Also special thanks to Noah's Mum Veronica, and Lachlan's Mum Paula for being those very important extra set of eyes and pair of hands.

Weights and Balances

What a surprise we had on Friday morning. The Prep rooms were all set up with balances at each table and a huge variety of things for us to try to weigh and balance. It was all so exciting and we couldn't wait to get going. Once everything was in action we all had a real ball. We learned new words such as balance, even, same could mean the same thing. We discovered how heavy things go down and lighter things go up, and what to do to try and balance the scales. Maths is certainly a lot of fun.

Wangaratta West Cup

The Monday before the world famous Melbourne Cup Day, we had our own increasingly world renowned Wangaratta West Cup Day. This is a very festive day and many children came in colourful casual clothes to celebrate the event.

We start with the construction of our horses, which of course was fun to do, but not a patch on the excitement of racing them on the oval!

Using our clever little fingers and increasing skills we made our own hats for the Fashions on the Field event.

We felt quite proud of our efforts, but the teacher's parade of their 'glad rags' gave us all the biggest laugh.

Mrs Sibley looked particularly stunning in this very striking little number.

Fortunately Miss Coats and Mrs Rizzo were there as the fashion police to keep things in check.
