Fun on the Farm

We have been having very busy little fingers making a whole variety of different animals for our farm. Here is a turkey which we made out of a pom pom. Now that did take a long time to make, and we are very proud of the results.

These jolly ducks were fun to make with tissue paper and lots of glue.
Our pigs have a 3D effect as their heads stick out. They were a bit tricky to do.

The puppets were just the best. We had great fun making them and had a wonderful time playing with them afterwards.

Look Who Came To Visit!

Later this year Grade 2A will go to the Melbourne Zoo, and so they decided to create a huge zoo scene of Beanie Kids. It was so fantastic that they took photos of it and entered it into a Beanie Kids competition. They WON! They were presented with $1000, and better still a huge box of Beanie Kids. What was outstanding was the arrival of an enormous Beanie Kid at assembly to present the prizes.

Well-done Mrs Arnold and all the children of Grade 2A.

Getting Closer

Each day brings new exciting events in the building process of our new school. We can really see things on the move now.

Here they are laying the slab to another pod of classrooms attached to the corner of the library.

If we are very lucky and all keeps going well we may be in our new school at the start of next year!

We Have Lots To Tell You.

Jeremiah had a poster along with a special 'collector's car' in his "Talking Bag". Jeremiah's enthusiasm and excitement about what he had to say was infectious and we were all very interested in what he had to tell us.

Anthony brought in his motorbike helmet and photos. He told us all about the fun his had on his motorbike.

Hayley really struck a cord with her book of Kinder Memories. She spoke so well that we felt we had been right there with her on her first climb up a tree as well as other Kinder highlights.

Noah told us all about his love of Transformers, which is something many of our boys related to. He was just flooded with questions as this was no toy he was talking about!

Entertainmnent

Our exciting week just went on and on this week. The Grade threes and fours have been learning all about the history of Wangaratta. They created a short play to show us all what it was like to be a child in the pioneering Docker family way back when Wangaratta was first settled by farmers and businessmen.

The fun did not end here. The Grade fives and sixes are entering the Wakakirri Competition where they have to create a play to music and dance with a strong message. Their message was all about having the courage to be yourself.

Well-done Miss Wills and all the children involved, we just loved your performances.

Some Diary Writing Highlights.

We continue to grow and grow as readers and writers every day. We often do diary writing as this is something that provides us with a great variety of things to write about. To check this out just listen to what we wrote about today.

Noah wrote about his new plans for the playground.

Connor, like all our Preps, really likes playtime.

Tom has a great holiday coming up soon.

Ashton recalls his trip to the Melbourne zoo where the lions were the best thing at the zoo.

Cassidy, like many of our Preps at the moment, has just come back after being sick with a bad cold.

An exciting party engagement for Hayley after school today.

Ethan is never short of a really good idea.

Imogen has some exciting news about next year.

Anthony is recalls an earlier trip to traffic school

Going out shooting with his Dad is what James likes doing the best.

Jeremiah is excited about going to traffic school.

Lachlan had an exciting trip to the police station to see the helicopter.

Riley had a great train trip.

ASSEMBLY

Each Monday morning we have assembly at Wangaratta West. All the school come together in our new school hall.

We start with the National Anthem. Some of us in Prep are getting quite good at singing along with the rest of the grade while Miss Wills plays the piano.

Tom and Ethan were given certificates for being student of the week. We were all very proud of them and theri efforts.

Mr Campbell had a special treat for us at this week's assembly. He had invited friends of his, Doug and Steve to come and show us how to shear a sheep. This was amazing! We were so excited! We have been learning all about farm animals this term, and really seeing shearing in action was just great!

We also got to feed some lambs. All you need to do is look at our faces here to see what fun this was!

After all the fun was over poor Mr Campbell got to sweep up all the straw! This hardly seemed fair after he gave us such an exciting day!

Thank-you Mr Campbell we had a real ball!
